... or how a single cut can make all the difference

​I was 10 years old, and it was one of those rare moments. A single cut, a scene transition in a French film starring Jean-Paul Belmondo and Françoise Dorléac, was all it took, and I knew: "I want that!" I want to be part of a tradition of storytellers who can change your perception within twenty-four frames. 

Three years later, I participated in the making of a short film during the school holidays and tried writing my first screenplay. All of it was new, and all of it was momentous.

Now, more than thirty years after those initial steps, my passion for movies and filmmaking remains at the center of my work life, augmented by a wealth of life experience, various projects and a Master's Degree in Screenwriting from the Zurich University of the Arts. 

And though much has changed for the 10-year-old boy of once, film itself will always be able to create a world of meaning in a single frame and contain the power of transformation within a single cut.
